Here are the top 5 reasons why this is a waste of time.

5. Nobody cares enough anymore. Look at how many people actually responded in this thread with any even remotely useful ideas, then look at how many of those people were actually interested enough to put the effort into actually following through with their own ideas. There's a million different reasons why this has happened but I think the complete and utter lack of control in the forums is one of the biggest reasons.

4. Too many players want things done their way or not at all. It's a fact, we all know it. There is very little room for compromise here. Somebody, (an admin with balls maybe?) has to make some hard decisions and stick to them. The bunch of spoiled cry babies here need a firm hand.

3. Boredom with the game has caused people to find ways to amuse themselves. Due to reasons 4 and 5, people have found ways to basically play just to torture others. This just makes the game worse. Sure, you all adapt to the tactics and they get easier to ignore, but they are there, lurking in the shadows, ready to be pointed in the right direction or stumble accross a lucky target...

2. It is too dificult to defend yourself in this game anymore. In any even war first strike wins. Period. The attacker doesn;t even have to be that skilled! In fact, in most cases, the war is really over after the first NIGHT. And anyway, who bothers with even wars anymore, it's so last week!

1. Certain players are here simply to brew chaos. I don't need to mention any names here, some people do it in the forums, others work behind the scenes with entire faiths and yet others are the reason 3 people. The worst are here simply to manipulate people and cause turmoil, they get off on it! It's been true for years and with a small player base they end up rubbing the good people the wrong way too often. People see them as friends just to get ass-raped the moment they drop the soap.

here's your solution:

even out the guilds to all the faiths, and cap the members allowed.

(simple as that you don't need any of the other mambo jumbo you guys guys keep trying to pass around)

this will not only even out future wars numbers wise, but if it works I'm sure people will be more willing to come back. honestly at this point the guilds out there are ridiculous

Do away with faiths and make it a free for all war with everybody not on your guild. Then there should be guild caps on how many members should be allowed ( minimum and maximum ). Just my opinion tho...

On a serious note ...

Decae's proposed changes are really good.

I don't think the solution lies in changing the game (i.e. doing away with faiths, guildcaps) :)

Will be interesting to see how Decae's plan works out.

i doubt he puts in guildcaps or does away with the faiths either. <i could be wrong>

his ideas are good ones
its just bringing people back, or getting new. thats the hard part:>

we need new people. people who arent burnt out and bitter lol. it'll all eventually come down to word of mouth and marketing.

but an important aspect of that will be that you guys dont give up while your waiting. stick around, until this all falls into place. those new guys will need guidance , enthusiasm and leaders.

As I read it, Decae proposes to go back to what made this game so great to begin with: simplicity.
I'm eager to see how that works out. :)

yeah but im pretty sure thats why he wont do away with faiths, or put in guild caps

hes always believed in a few basic things

policing your own
three faiths<seriously guys, this is the basic premise to the entire game, hes not gonna take away faiths:PPP>
and no guild caps
not to mention freedom of speech and being able to speak your mind:P

i dont speak for him, havent talked to him, and could be wrong

but im pretty sure hes not gonna take away faiths or put in caps

again, while these changes are implemented, its important no one leaves and everyone sticks it out.

shifty im not sure why u popped in to tell us how horrible things are, but its not really helping things:)

i would however, like to know what u meant by the boards comment.

hmmm, faiths could remain, but maybe we could have interfaith fighting, like rival sects of Barnabus feuding for the true interpretation of his words.

Grizz ... you posting out of character bothers me to no end.

And who says this doesn't happen already? Followers of the same faith may war with each other, but that does not usually happen until one (guild, person, portion of the faith) gets so pissed at the other they begin to cause anarchy. Anarchy is the creation of the gods. The god of Chaos to be exact. Leto. So one guild gets pissed and leaves Barnabas and goes to Leto.

Ta da.

It is all how you see it happening.

Everyone remember Civilization or Master of Orion on PC? Yeah. Well it wasn't that terribly deep of a game but a lot of people (including me) took it further and deeper than it went. The reasoning behind it was that it was a simple game, but imposing your own changes and laws and rules upon your kingdom/nation/star empire was part of the fun.

Do that here.

Do it to yourself.

I have two members in my guild.

I don't care who they are or why they are playing. I told them to go scout and do stuff.
I am no leader right now.

If I had the time though, I would happily take them under my wing and breed another FOXFIRE to ravage the ages with.

I might even learn to run a chat.

A simpler game means we have more time for war ... which everyone wants.

Just a though but if we stop focusing on the problems (some of which have already been dealt with) and work more on the solutions it could help.....

BTW I believe what Shifty meant by no control on the boards is that there are too many who think to control the boards too many chiefs and not enough indians as the saying goes.....

Stop having normal players consistently act in a manner which suggests they run these boards or carry and admin status of some sort and leave that sort of thing to the voices and the admin.

Too much attempting to control will in fact create a lack of control.....

I think we are still suffering from when Admin played directly in the game, a move I thought that when done openly would hurt the game (a thought I even expressed to Admin at the time).

The boards need to be open and crazy, but they also need regulation. Minor regulation. Which is what we have!

We need to have a few things:

1. More whining.
2. More meanness.
3. More goofiness.
4. More number crunching.
5. More swaffles.
6. More debates.
7. More RP.
8. More ideas.
9. More politics.
10. More drama.
11. More ego.
12. More self-respect.

These things can be done on an individual basis and we don't need to ask anyone to change who they are.

The moment someone says "There needs to be respect for others, less whining, less meanness, more seriousness, less swaffles, no more stupid debates or SPINNING."

That person is just trying to stop an influx of different posting types onto the boards.

One thing does need to stop:

"<Insert Person/Guild/Faith> is the reason the game is dying."

You guys all sound like Obama with the economy out there. Use your powers for good not evil.

3. All the comments and bash people make a kingdom, so as to give their comments-area a reason for being there.
(We have even thought of a guild name for you: Convention Of Mindboggling, Mildly Erotic 'N Terrific Superstars (COMMENTS))

We created our own reason to exist, what have YOU done lately? Seems to me without the game, Comments is still Comments and people who like to gather and drink we keep right on gathering and drinking. But without a game.. wait, who are all of you people again??

And Gerien and Rey, stop posting here, yer making us look bad. YOU two aren't mean and nasty enough for this place. Give them Sylandra, she is an evil witch.

V, thou art mean enough YOU stay and give 'em hell.

And Stone, seriously? You don't get what was meant by that? REALLY? PM me, I will give you a full on explanation.

edit/Shifty, stick around, come on over to Comments.

What I mean is pretty simple actually.

The general consensus here is that the game needs "new blood".

Who the hell is gonna come into this game and not be either intimidated or downright scared off by the jackasses who tear the forums to pieces on a regular basis? Yes, it has always been the way of things - but, back in the day there was enough balance between assholes and decent players who realize there's an actual human being on the other side of that alias that the constant flaming and attacking could be avoided. Not so anymore, if somebody isn't flaming then somebody is whining or bitching or crying or screaming or needling....

I know most of you enjoy your constant ball busting and pot stirring but it's a culture that has grown here, not the way of the world. People will come to play this game because they are drawn to the medieval theme, the RP and the bragging rights that come with a little hard work, not to be assaulted or read posts with other people assaulting each other. We have the 6:00 news for that, they will come here looking to escape the real world, not get a mega-dose of the worst of it.
