Angie then Oleana, as I remember - I joined up under Oleana then quit a week later when I was told that I wasn't fit to represent the guild on the messageboards :)

I was there for most of its time under Angelique, though I don't recall it going to Oleana. It was meant to be an elite guild combining the cream of TL, VTA and TT as well as a few other vets such as Demmy and Teachamouth(sp?) though i dont think it had quite had the success it was meant to. From what I remember after awhile the guild became known as Reality's Prophets (RIP) which didn't actually last very long. The game afterwards a large portion of the members stayed together to form the core of JC. Maybe Redhead restarted the guild at a later date under Oleana.

A story from ages past, a folk tale passed from generation to generation, a myth reaching across races, bards sung of the gem to royals, commoners spoke of it in hushed tones around campfires. Charlatans and true-believers alike produced gems of enormous size and clarity that they purported to be talismans of Olandar, Father of the Gods. However, none were able to reproduce the powers said to be manifested within the pieces of Olandar’s gem.

**********************************************

The crystal was rumored to be the source of the father of the gods' power. In their haste to depose their father, Barnabas, Leto, and Angelique sought not the power of the gem. In all likelihood, they were ignorant of its strength. At the time of Olandar’s death the gem was held fast to the breast of the great god. Tales differ but many reveal that it was stained with his blood, bestowing even greater power upon its bearer. As he breathed his last, Olandar’s grip failed and the gem fell from the heavens to the realms of his creation, shattering upon impact. During the aftermath, the progeny of Olandar battled for the celestial throne. Followers of the gods upon the earth splintered into factions. The darkness of war spread a blight across the land, and the pieces of the gem were forgotten for centuries.

When at last the battles abated, those who sought the knowledge of the old ways explored manuscripts in the oldest surviving libraries and the histories of the lands. Great stores of wisdom were discovered by priests, shamen, and learned beings. Within the lost teachings was but a single mention of the lost gem. Expeditions were mounted. In vain, both true believers and profiteers surveyed all possibilities. The very bowels of the earth were perforated in a fruitless search for shards of the blood-stained crystal. Some sought the gem for their own power, while others sought the gem for their god(dess). Knowing not where to look, searchers let their faith guide them – to where, no one knew. But the secrets held by the crystal and the pieces themselves eluded the seekers throughout many ages.

*******************************************

The trees were extremely still. The sun began to set on the horizon. A female wanderer of fair skin and scarlet hair halted her horse. She took a moment, held the small of her back and stretched. She examined her surroundings and noticed a beautiful meadow with a clear stream, lush green hills, and a small waterfall gushing forth from the base of a nearby crag. She dismounted and walked the horse to the stream. The Friesian promptly began drinking the cool mountain water.

Travel-worn and weary, the half-elf knelt down at the edge of the brook and peered at the reflection. She did not recognize the face staring back at her. Her red locks were matted and clumped, her delicate face obscured by sweat and a thin layer of dust. She reached toward the water as if to touch the reflection only to have her fingertips break the image.

Wetting both hands, she ran them through her hair and lightly down her face, leaving muddy finger trails in their wake. She collapsed where she sat and sighed heavily. Her thoughts began to wander.

"So exhausted, so many miles, so many lost, so many years since I've seen my friends, my family, my love. All for what?" She looked up at the burnt orange of the evening sun and her eyes began to fill with tears. "And for what? Oh Angelique …."

She dropped her head into her hands and tears began to flow like the stream she sat beside. At that moment she heard a rumble in the distance. Even her horse stopped eating the sweet meadow grass and looked up. "Thunder?" she thought as she gazed at the clear sky. The rumble ceased for a moment and her thoughts drifted back to her sorrow. The resounding sound began anew, but this time much nearer. Birds flew from the trees and the water in the stream waked. She leapt to her feet and grasped the reins on her horse, holding him still. Earsplitting booms cracked all about her.

The sounds faded away and in their place a thin mist began to rise from the earth. It soon became a thick fog. Blanketing her and the whole of the area, she fought to see her own hand before her face. Disoriented and confused, she began to become frightened. When she thought all hope of finding her way from this place was lost, a corridor formed within the mist. A path opened wide from the place upon which she stood and drew away into the soupy haze. Having no other obvious alternative she followed the offered trail.

Time within the murk seemed to stand still, as did distance. She could not tell how far or for how long she had walked when she stepped into a small clearing. In the exact center of the swirling vapors sat a rough hewn rock bench of brilliant blue. As wide as her shoulders and as tall as her waist, it shone with a vivid glow. Slowly creeping forward, she beheld a gem, an azure crystal the size of a man's thumbs, resting upon the bench.

Felt rather than heard, words of the softest and gentlest tones came to her. "To you my child, a believer true of faith and pure of heart, to you I bestow my greatest gift. Angelique, who is my truest daughter in her heart and my rightful heir, will make you and your companions Her vehicle of justice and noble victory upon the earth. Take unto yourself this talisman, this vessel of my dominion, to assist in your service to Her. This fragment of my gem will be yours and will lead you to the others."

Gratitude overwhelmed her, and she collapsed to the ground in front of the bench. The mists at once lifted, leaving her beside the brook she had walked from, the gem gripped tightly in one gauntleted fist.

***********************************

She awoke at the nuzzling of her mount, thinking it all a dream. But it quickly became apparent that she had not conjured these happenings, for within her grasp, she beheld....

A shard of Olandar’s Gem, the Crystal.
