Post Hoper's Hopper (TEN/OPEN) 2
OOC: Starting a new thread at the request of Voice Jasmine.

Karnalvor slowly made his way through the woods in search of Hoper's Hopper. From Kaz's instruction, Karnalvor figured he should already have arrived two days past. He stopped to ponder, "What if Kaz did not give me accurate directions?" Karnalvor shrugged and trudged onward, naked. He could only assume Kaz would return his clothes at the arranged destination. Kaz's words echoed in Karnalvor's head, "Just give me your clothes and make your way north to Hoper's Hopper. You can't miss it. Then you will join TEN with great honor and pride, we have all done this." Karnalvor being a good judge of character, superb woodsman and a skilled gambler did not doubt Kaz and his directions and continued his march towards glory.

The city was all but rebuilt and with it came the problems of running a kingdom ,plagued by angry merchants squabbling over market space or taxes levied against them for stall useage.
The tirade of their banter blossumed into a mighty headache for Pyren ,so much so he unwittingly ordered the execution of a merchant who did not want to pay an entrance fee to the city and his goods seized.

Clearing the great hall of people amidst many protests of unfinished business and complaints Pyren ordered all out save for his ministers.
Turning to his ministers with and angered look upon his face Pyren layed into them..

Why are issues being brought before me for settlement ,after i have delegated you lot with the power to makes these decisions on your own...WHAT THE HELL AM I PAYING YOU ALL FOR??...Realizing that yelling at his ministers was just aggravating his headache even more,Pyren did his best to keep his temper under control.

You lot are one step from the gallows, i suggest that you begin handling these matters immediately. I make an edict now that this court shall not be used to settle petty squabbles and is reserved for matters of war and serious crimes/issues Now begone.
A slight smile crossed his face as all he saw of his ministers was dust trails out of his court. Serve's the lazy sods right to get their necks stretched Pyren thought.
But his head was pounding and it did no good for him to remain in court with no cases to handle. Thinking to himself that perhaps and relaxing drink and good company would relive his pounding headache, Pyren let it be known as he made his way out Pyren gave the watch commander the location he could be reached at should all hell break loose.

Yeah kind find me at Hoper's,should any inquire or all hell breaks loose.

Steel was wondering outside of Hoper's Hopper, because if he entered it he knew that the night would turn out just like every other night he had been inside the Hoper's walls. He would get extremely drunk and would most likely be thrown out by a couple of guys that just walked in and were sober enough to do so. Steel did not feel like feeling the way he always did the next morning, so instead he was seeing what was going on in the nearby villages. With his retinue of men he trudged down the dusty road, not exactly sure where he was going, he would soon find this out though.

As soon as Pyren climbed aboard his chariot, he raced out of the kingdom as fast as he could. Head pounding and still annoyed at the laziness of those he had delegated to handle the day to day affairs.
The city gates counld not come fast enough for him, he urged his mounts to go even faster. Along the way outraged merchants and peasants dove to get out of the way and voiced the displeasure of doing so, as Pyren roared thru the marketplace enroute to the cities gates.
Once he was clear of the city gates the country side slowly opened up into a vast lowland valley, Pyren raced along until his mounts could no longer keep the pace and slowed to a walk.

A stream ran alongside the road and then passed under it via a small moss covered stone bridge, guideing his mounts over towards the water both mount and rider had quenched their thirsts.
Pyren got up from the stream and took a small walk around his chariot while his mounts still drank, checking to make sure nothing had worked itself loose.
He was content to find nothing out of the ordinary, till he saw both his mounts nervously bolt their heads up and turn towards the grove of trees opposite the river.Ina calming voice Pyren spoke and patted them to try and calm them down.
Whats got you two so spooked..huh?..

Wondering what had captured their attention Pyren aswell looks towards the grove,he scanned all along and could not see what had spooked the horse's, he was about to turn and berate them for acting foolish. When out of the corner of his eye he saw what looked like a naked man moving thru the woods, but as quickly as he turned to get a better look the figure disappeared into the foilage.

What the hell was that ?...i could a swore i saw a a..Realizing he was standing their talking to himself and a pair of horse's over what he thought they saw, Pyren surmised it was probably a trick of the light or even a ghost and shook it off.
Climbing aboard he urged his mounts to make haste in the direction of the lil inn as he couldn't wait till he got to Hoper's he really needed a drink now he thought.

Karnalvor nearly looked graceful as the simpleton stumbled through the forest. Trodging north was his goal and Hoper's was his destination. The thought that Karnalvor might actually get used to this whole naked thing passed into his mind and quickly out as wind picked up and embarrassed him to mother nature.

Ever since that bad incident with the locked spell book and the unmentionable powder, which Karnalvor now realized he should not have touched, he has had trouble with his memory. Karnalvor was once a skilled tactician of the battlefield, but his desire for the arcane art of sorcery grew too strong. With time his power with magic increased, but his memory started to dwindle.

Karnalvor's quest is to some how reconstruct his memories, perhaps those he should soon meet could give him some direction. More importantly, he really needs to quench his thirst, for all this walking is making our great woodsman fatigued.

A few bushes near by begin to flutter a bit, what could it be wondered Karnalvor....

The day grew late and dusk came. Karnalvor squinted and in the distance could make a little billow of smoke coming from the horizon. He began to trot towards the smoke. Karnalvor was determined that this HAD to be Hoper's Hopper. Perhaps he could get some real food, something with some seasoning to it. Maybe he could win a little money back from Kaz or Niurin character, and pay for his meal. Karnalvor picked up his pace at the thought of a good hot meal, also drawing nearer to his destination

[edit ..Sheesh twice in a row ,Sorry wrong alt tis Pyren[/edit]
It hadn't taken long to arrive at Hoper's after his little rest and peculiar incounter with what he thought was a naked man's ghost.
Chuckleing to himself as he tied his mounts to the hitchin post, Pyren gave a quick look around from the direction whence he came from.
The thought of what he may have saw quelled the anger he felt towards his kingdoms ministers and their incompatence, he was all but laughing out loud when he entered the tavern.

Praise be to Darden for his sense of humor ....He mumbled as he approached the bar and tossed a few coins to pay for his bottle of brandy.
Taking a seat in his favorite chair by the fire pit, Pyren poured himself a glass of brandy and took the simple pleasure in the scent and taste as it rolled down his throat.

If life was a box of chocolates, then my box would be missing the cherries, and full of bitter lemons.

How I ended up at Hoper's, I don't quite remember. Perhaps it had something to do with that not so savory baked potato I had consumed back at the castle, or perhaps I had consumed one too many of those mystery drinks that Julia had been so fond of.

I suppose it didn't quite matter how I got there, or how I got a white horse considering I didn't own a white horse...

It seemed a welcoming place. Full of joy, full of pain, full of everything that life should be. Everything a NORMAL life should be. But then again, my life was far from normal...

Steel had been wondering on the road for several hours, he had not seen anything out of the oridnary.. it almost seemed like he was walking in circles.. which he knew was quite possible but.. wouldnt he see the Hoper is he really was going in circles. Steel was lost, and he knew it. He decided to turn on a dirt road that he thought looked very familar. He saw what looked like the back of a small house. He walked slowly up to it, wondering whether or not he should enter through this back door. He drew his sword and entered quietly, but once he had entered he knew that it didnt matter that he entered quitley or not. There seemed to be many people in the next room. He put his sword away, so that he wouldn't scare anyone, then entered, he had come into the Hoper through the back door, he had not recognized it though becaus he had never been back there before. He decided to go ahead and get hammered, since he had had such a scare.

You see, ever since I was a child, the children had always called me the banana kid. Perhaps it was the yellow coat I had always been made to wear by my mother. Or perhaps it was because I was a coward. You see, I had always been the smallest kid in the family, and because of that I was the target of taunts by my family.

Luckily however, Hoper's seemed to be different. It wasn't about my size, it would be about my devotion to the faith. Or at least I thought it would be.

"Hey Shorty!"

Sadly, I was mistaken.

In his drunken stupor, Tesla could barely remember the young female musician's name. It did not matter, as he had been enraptured by the call of her flute. The night was even better as she consetned to join him in smoking a little fo Rory's special tabbac out on the beach after her nightly entertainment was through. Lying on the sandy shore with the stars adn planets shinign bright in the summer sky, she pointed out the brightest light in the sky. "Would you believe that is another world?" she asked. "It's the closests it has been in five thousand years.." Tesla listened with half an ear while the simple but wae-inspiring pounding of the surf and the clean, salty air combined to offer hima peaceful countenance. He made a mental note to complement the barkeep at Hoper's for booking such excellent entertainment.

Steel once again had found himself wondering towards the Hoper. He had made it a habit to go almost every night. He usually would sit down with the same group of guys and drink and talk. Tonight was different though. None of the guys that Steel normally hung out with were there.

"Looks like a slow night," Steel said to the bartender.
"Yea, there was another fight and I had to throw about half the bar out."

Steel ordered a drink and drank it quickly. Steel began to get depressed, it would once again be another boring night. Steel walked quietly out the door and decided that he would just wonder around for a little while. He found nothing out of the ordinary so he walked back to his castle and fell asleep early that night. Little did he know, things would change shortly.

It had been late in the eve when Pyren and his armies returned to familar lands, with the recents events that went on Pyren had a feeling he would have visitors soon and wished to have his whole army ready to defend.
But his men had marched or rode for some time now without a pause to catch one's breath, and Pyrens legs and backside were as sore as their feet. For he was unaccostumed to riding and the large war horse he was on didn't seem to thrilled of his rider ethier, but as they rolled along the tiny inn of Hoper's came into veiw. Pyren could see someone riding off but could not tell from this distance who it was, riding up to the front he had his unit commanders Pyren ordered..

Have the men rest and dismount in the glade across from the tavern, thru the thicket is a stream with fresh water for the horse's and i'll need 6 large lads to help with some water for the men.. As you wish M'Lord..As the Captain past out the orders to his junior officers Pyren rode towards the tavern, as his army split off towards the opposing glade. Once he reached the hitching post he dismounted and tied off the horse, stretching and rubbing his legs and backside Pyren noticed he was walking rather funny as he made his way up the stairs.
Turning around Pyren saw the 6 men he had asked for riding up in a wagon, as it reached the steps of the tavern Pyren oreded them to tie it off and go inside for a round.

The men seemed unsure if they were allowed to drink with him, but with a quick wink and nod from Pyren it didn't take em long to be fighting to get in. As the smal mob roared thru the door the bartender just stood there laughing at em..
Easy lads...Easy ..Tis me only door.. (*chuckles).. and no need to fight ,there's a plenty to go round. And plenty is what we need ,good barkeep ..For i have a thirsty army outside and i figured it better for all yer wench's.Smacks a passing barmaid on the backside as she goes by, and gets the resonding sqeel from her.... for me to bring it to them, then for them to come here...Laughing along side his men as some made whistles and cat calls at the pretty young barmaid as she straightened her dress Pyren made his order.I need 6 large kegs of Ale and 2 of wine and these stout lads are here to help , so if you would be so kind as to set us up with a round till yer ready to fill the order we'd be much obliged to ya's.
No problem Lord Pyren,..take seat and enjoy the cost of your order comes to 580 gold and will be added to your tab or would you prefer to pay it now?.Nae i'll pay it and what i owe now.Pyren tossed 2 small sacks of 500 gold each onto the bar.The rest just put to credit ,I may need it soon ..(*chuckles)

It seems that all times are repetitive. The words and the ways of all those before and behind—indeed it seems that all times are ever growing and nostalgic in nature. Times are missed.

Perhaps it had been the blur which had seemed to fill neither head nor skies, but memories were just that, a slip in the time-line, but he hadn’t understood why again he had been…

Been what exactly?

Narissa? – Memories had always had a funny way of playing tricks on the men that had in time forgotten them. The faint whispers of a wife past or continuing in this land seemed to roam his mind. The idea’s of children… of his child. He wondered, if in journey she would find him or he her.

The Tavern was close, and for a moment he was torn from his convoluted ideas, just long enough to think about times past, present and future. His child. His wife—

Now, as a new man, but with the same honor, he has arisen. Taking pride in his God Darden, and searching…

The past has not been forgotten, and the world will echo in all of its existence another form of the brethren of Lazaruss. Another birth of strength and honor in what has always been…

He had been travelling through the forest for days now, searching for the place known as the Hopper. The atmosphere within the trees had been dark and forboding, but light was finally emerging through the bows ahead of him. At the edge of the forest the large rundown tavern beckoned to him and he made his way towards it eagerly. The doorway creaked on its rusty iron hinges as he entered the drinking grounds of the TEN.

Nodding to a few of his friends, he made his way over to the bar and ordered himself an ale.

Waking the brisk morning air blowing in above the surf, Tesla looked at his companion as she slept peacefully in the sand. her back was covered in beautiful tatoos. He remembered a discussion he had with another in the Hopper the night before, and smiled to himself as he thought. "Those poor men who reject a woman so beautifully painted are the same who think a wall is merely meant to hold up a building, and cannot appreciate the artistry of a curving line or a dome on pendentives. It do be sad to think that only a handful will ever be able to appreciate the truly beautiful sights of the world." Slowly caressing the woman's colored back as she stirred sleepily, he asked her would you like to visit this painter I know? he do be painting the entire roof of a great church on the inside!!"

Steel usually found himself at the Hoper when in the heat of battles. Whether celebrating, or trying to forget, he was usually there. This time he was trying to forget. Once again, the heathens had taken much of his lands. Steel basically watched his people and land go into enemy hands in a blink of an eye. That is why he found himself here, at the Hoper. Steel always saw a variety of people at the Hoper. They were usually split into two groups, some which were merry, others like him, who where there just to forget their problems. Steel sat down with some of the sorrow men and began listening to stories. Just like a variety of people, there was a variety of stories. Steel heard stories that night about the loss of lands, the loss of bars on there lands, and the mad wifes. Tonight though, it was mostly about the lands of maxim. Many had suffered losses in the past couple of days.. and everyone was wondering if the tide would soon change.

Niurin sat inside the Hopper. He had been in the tavern now solidly for the last 36 hours drinking the place dry. It had been a long time since the Cult had been able to spend a little time relaxing without the overhanging threat of an invading army within the borders. The brew which Niurin had been knocking back for the last day or so was incredibly intoxicating and soon he started to feel the effects.

The room started to spin around and around like a viscious cyclone, perhaps he had consumed one too many, or - most likely - ten too many. Cluthcing on to the bar to enable him to mantain a certain degree of balance, Niurin allowed himself to slide, almost comatose towards the floor of the tavern.

As he felt himself losing consciousness, another consciousness hidden in a recess at the back of his stolen mind started to stir

Years had passed since Kaz had received word from the Demon in his mind about the possible recruitment of an ancient power into the cult. Since that time he had been forced to take up residence in a small bastion of unconsciousness within his own mind, while the Demon who had tricked him, took over his life.

He had watched, unable to do anything, in horror as war after war raged through the lands of the TEN, he had seen them go from great strength to desimation, and start their ascent once more. Vainly he had battled against the walls within his mind that he had errected so long ago to repress the thoughts of the pain and suffering caused by the hands of the Forets, when the Burning Fury - Losgadh Aineas - had finally fallen, and his kingdom had been consumed by fire.

After a while he had given up, resolved to the likely fact that he would never again take up the conscious control of his body. That is of course, until today. Looking through the eyes of he who had stolen Kaz's body, Kazimirzch himself had watched in amusement as the Demon Niurin consumed just a little bit too much strong liquor. The walls started to weaken, and Kaz utilised his chance.

Sinking into a alcohol induced obvlivion, Niurin felt the first tentative pushes against the wall that kept Kaz at bay. In his current state he knew that he would not be able to hold off an assault from the elf to regain possetion of his mind. But he also knew that in order to take control once more the previous occupant of this body would have to face what he had repressed so long ago. Not only woudl Kaz have to face his fear, but - once he had regained his consciousness - have to remember it.

Frantically Niurin sent what part of his spirit he could, through the occupants of the Tavern, to see if any could host him, for he feared that once Kaz had puched through, he woudl never get the chance to feel flesh again. And that was somthing the Demon was not prepaired to do.

The occupants of the Tavern were od mixed strengths and weaknesses, some had immense power but also immense ability to fend of a hostile consciousness, others had no power at all, but were easy prey. However, now he he tasted power from within the mind of the elf, Niurin was not about to give it up.

Ok, so I was a little bit Short. Was that so bad? I mean, with reduced height comes benefits. Because of my small stature, I could squeeze into holes no others could squeeze into. I could manuvre between the legs of Giants. I was a small target for archers. Countless other things make being short a great thing!

Alas, in the end I was still smaller than the rest. Still that doesn't mean that people should judge me by my hieght... Oh wait... I guess Shorty the name of that fellow over there...Well then. I guess I needed not be judged by my hieght afterall.

Steel wondered into the Hoper in a time of peace. It had been a while since this had occured. Steel thought that he might as well enjoy himself while it lasted. He sank into a seat without even looking who was seated around the same table. When he finally looked up he saw an old man. It was the same suspicious old man that had directed Steel to te lands of the TEN many years ago. Steel was going to ask his name, but before he could ask the man was already introducing himself. The old man called him self Ratcliff. He told Steel that he lived on these lands, wondering the lands of maxim. Steel was in no mood to talk to the old man so he moved to a table that had no one seated. He ordered a drink, then another one, then some more. Steel wasn't sure but he could here the voices behind him in a very soft whisper. He caught a few words, but not all of the conversation. He heard old, man, warrior, and battles. Steel was going to turn around and ask the men what they were talking about but before he could, the room began to spin and Steel knew that he would soon be getting sick. He slowly got up and walked out of the bar and into the dark night.

From the distance I heard the sound of a horse running with all its might. The ground shook from its every step. Many thoughts had run though my head. Was it a passer by or was it another rouge kingdom wishing to take what was not theirs. Without knowing I had no choice.

ARM YOURSELF MEN!!

There was a mad dash for everyone's weapons. I armed myself with my sword and a cross bow and made my way to the gate.

Well if they want my land then so be it but there going to have to take from me.

No sooner I said that an arrow shot next to me. Attached what a leather bag. I opened it up to find a badge with the mark of TEN. As I looked in awe I saw a note.

We await you, show your badge at the door of Hoper's hopper and all shall become clear

Weary and a wee bit saddle sore Pyren walked into the bar, he had been riding for some time lost in reflection over the war and having to keep his people on the move. Three times the forces of Amastu Mikaboshi had attacked and destroyed what he had built, but his people had grown accustomed to war in all it's forms. Although many had died during this last war there were still enough that had scattered to safety to always come back and rebuild and so after a few hard days of work the new keep was constructed. The castle was built more for war then splendor, built partially into a natural forming crevice which made up two of the four walls which were being built still when Pyren arrived at Hoper's.
Taking his usual spot he was looking over the building plans as the waitress brought him his brandy, from the sketch at a distance the the mountain side took the form of a gigantic mouth with the castle's twin spires as it's fangs and the parapets as it's teeth.Taking a small piece of coal that had popped out of the fire and had cooled Pyren etched a pair of eyes above the crevice, a fitting finishing touch that he would have Lazlo complete at first light. As he occasionally looked up from his work Pyren noticed a few familiar faces moving around the bar, silent nods as his gaze met those of whom he knew were cast but he also saw faces of those he did not.
Bit it seemed they posed no threat and Pyren saw them conversing with others from Ten and dismissed the feeling of wariness that began to creep into his mind.
Rubbing his eyes and rolling up the plans Pyren put aside his concerns for the moment and simply relaxed into the chair, gazing into the fire he watched as it flickered to a fro in it's endless search to continue to burn.
