Troop Information

Each race has five different troop types, as well as fortresses. Type five troops are your citites/changelings/drow - commonly known as 'scum' units, which are used to conduct actions via the Steal menu.

Human - Goblin - Elves

Human armies are famed for their versatility and their ability to turn a fighting retreat into glorious victory at a moment's notice.

From the frozen peaks come the Northmen, charging down upon the enemy in a crazed mass of loincloths, frothing mouths and huge two handed weapons. They are very much a blunt tool in the armoury of the human realms, and are more powerful when charging in a gibbering horde than when asked to hold the line.

The bulk of many human armies will be made up of a large militia force of Foresters, well skilled with their tree-felling axes and hunting bows.

While the foresters provide a reasonable strength for the human armies, no sensible general will expect humble woodsmen to face down the likes of trolls and giants - the powerful Ellis are therefore recruited to oppose the more potent adversaries which the human armies will come to face. While the ellis are more expensive to recruit and maintain than the foresters, they offer a strength of arm and will which the humble woodsmen cannot hope to match.

Finally, the richest of human lords can call upon legions of trained Dragons which they direct at the lands of their enemies. Stronger still than the ellis, dragons are fearsome creatures which possess enough intellect to direct their strength defensively as well as for aggressive purposes.

Aside from the crude offensive strength of the northmen, human armies are intensively trained for both defensive and offensive solidity. A unit of foresters, ellis or dragons will be capable of performing both tasks with roughly equal skill - so while a human army will not possess the brute offensive strength of a goblin army of equal size, it will provide adequate defensive cover for the kingdom's borders as well as being capable of attacking its rivals. Equally, the humans are not as skilled defensively as the armies of the elves - but are far more capable of taking the battle to the lands of the heathens than the defensively-drilled elven war hosts.
