Troop Information

Each race has five different troop types, as well as fortresses. Type five troops are your citites/changelings/drow - commonly known as 'scum' units, which are used to conduct actions via the Steal menu.

Human - Goblin - Elves

Though the Elves are by no means as numerous or as powerful as they were in days gone by, they are still a force to be reckoned with when they deign to take the field of battle. They cling to the spiritual places which they still hold, and mutter dark curses over the names of those who have dared defile those which the Elves have lost.

Half Elves are half-bloods, results of relations between elven maidens and those of other races - usually humans, since there is little to attract any elf to an orc. Their thin blood makes them markedly less potent in combat than other elven troops, and though they still possess the will and discipline to provide solid defensive cover, they are exposed as lesser warriors when asked to go on the offensive.

Their full blooded cousins form units of Sylvans, and any who sees the two units fight alongside each other will be in no doubt which is which. The sylvans are far more capable of wielding their elegant longswords to break down enemy lines than their half-blooded comrades, though they remain marginally better at holding their own lines than breaking those of the enemy.

At the heart of any elven defensive line will be the High Elves. Tasked with defending the remnants of the spiritual lands still held by the elves, these units represent the peak of elven swordplay and defensive power. Formations of high elves move with a grace and elegance which belies the strength behind their sword arm, and their heavy wooden shields are used with a speed and dexterity which will leave opponents frustrated.

The offensive strength of a sizeable elven army will come from the Grey Elves, who possess the natural elven instinct to defend their lands with skill and strength teamed with an anger or bitterness towards their enemies which is drilled into them by their tutors. Often sent on 'take and hold' missions by the elven strategic councils, grey elves wield their spears with deadly efficiency - and once they have beaten their enemies back, bloodied and battered, they will form circled formations which prickle with spears. Whether they are moving with deadly grace towards an enemy formation or forming defensive arcs of their own, the strength and determination of the grey elves makes them the pride of the elven forces. Underestimate them in any situation, to your cost.
