Alliances

"Blast! Those thrice-cursed Letites advance much further, and they're at our border."

Pacing across the chamber, you pull down several parchments from their shelves and unroll them on the table.

"Send the third legion to strengthen the borders of our neighbours, and give them a cart of gold to bolster their armouries. It is vital that those heathens are prevented from taking one more acre of my lord Barnabas' lands... and if the battle is to take place on someone else's lands, all the better..."

In games which alliances are enabled (at the time of writing, all but Solo) this screen allows you to offer support to other kingdoms of your faith. The alliances screen also allows you to declare war on your enemy.

To offer an alliance, enter the kingdom number of your potential ally in the 'send envoys to' box and press 'send'. The offer will then appear in the target kingdom's Scribe screen, and they will have the opportunity to reply or to accept or decline the proposed alliance. If an alliance is accepted, both allies have the chance to offer military or financial support. Each kingdom may have up to three allies each at any time.

Military aid is set via the offensive and defensive support boxes - in increasing order of magnitude, you can send patrols to your allies, supplement their vanguard, or despatch an army to march alongside their troops. Supporting an ally offensively and/or defensively does not diminish your own defences, but be aware that your forces may well suffer losses while aiding your ally.

Financial support can be given via the 'send aid' drop-down box. Select the ally which will receive the money, and then use the 'amount' box to select a portion of your current treasury to send. The transfer is instant, though if an enemy has targeted your kingdom with the 'incercept caravan' function from the Steal menu, your money may be intercepted. Each kingdom may only send one shipment of money in a 24 hour period.
