Introduction

Welcome to Canon - a browser-based game of fantasy warfare in which you may attempt through skill, political machination and brute force to raise your kingdom above its rivals as the King or Queen of the world of Islan. No downloads are required to play, and the game is completely free - all that is required to join our game and community is a recent web browser.

The empire stands divided into three powerful factions led by Gods born into mortal flesh - Angelique, Leto and Barnabas - once powerful deities, now manifest in our lands. Bannermen rally to their sides as a hush falls across the land; the brief, terrifying moment of calm before the empire descends once more into all-consuming bloody warfare.

Angelique, the self-proclaimed Queen of Islan, governed her land with a steady grip. The rule of law permeated every aspect of her method. On occasion, the rumors would speak of her harsh responses, oppression and deft cruelty. But with those rumors also came the ringing endorsements of those who believed in the compassion of blind justice.

Raised in an older House of the Empire, a quiet dignity hangs on the shoulders of young Barnabas. Each action taken and each stance were held with forethought and a preponderance of the effects on all his subjects. Only a few close advisors have his ear, and the more loose-lipped of his nobility whisper of arrogance, untested wisdom, and the impression of his being manipulated. On the battlefield however, his grace and steady deliberation is revered, by enemies and soldiers alike.

Leto, the smartest of three, rose to fame in circles not mentioned in polite conversation. With an ear to the ground, this man of the people has seen his following grow with his deeply personal commitment to those around him. His name has a dual-edged meaning to many: he is wild, chaotic, and unpredictable as well as a generous, charismatic leader with a penchant for caring for the poor.
