Evernight Family Gathering (Bash, October)

Postby Decae » Thu Apr 21, 2005 8:30 am

Going to pin this up so that everyone can see it.

When: October 7th, 8th, 9th (extended stay available for any who wish it).

Where: It will be held an my place in Spotsylvania Virginia. I'm located 45 minutes south of Washington DC, 45 minutes north of Richmond. Dulles, Baltimore-Washington (BWI), Reagan National, and Richmond International are the closest airports.

Hotel Costs: While their are hotels in the area and I can give details for htose that require them, none are required. My house is large enough to accomodate any number of guests. Last year we had 10 and were able to provide rooms/sleeping arrangements without a problem. This year we plan on providing additional cots and if you wish, bring your tent and sleep out in the yard (big yard, plenty of space - bonfires will be going nightly).

I understand this is only four months from the Marion Bash. Matt (Draven) asked if he could host one again and I agreed, the date he has chosen is due to constraints on his end. Again, I understand if you cannot make both.

The Evernight Family Gathering is rather low-key. We hang out, play games, drink (a lot), and will hopefully have plenty of opportunity to do some fun things this year. Paintballing, bonfire (my backyard), and a great Saturday grill-out. There are close and convenient theme parks, monuments, and tourist establishments (colonial, civil-war, drinking, etc) but it all depends on the group, the cash, and the will.

The time is upon us.. soon, soon, my pretties!

Ok - My Address:

7115 N. Shade Tree Ln.
Spotsylvania VA 22553

I think I'm finally going to attend a bash and this one seems really laid back. I'll be there. *very nervous but excited*

The good thing about this bash, is that you don't have to make a reservation. We may have a small pass-the-hat collection when you show up for food/booze/drink but that's about it. The only real price for this event is getting here - everything past that is up to you.

So, hope you can make it - good luck with the heart ;x

Argh. From a quick check, the cost of flights to the US at that point is about $900. Which is a bit much for a weekend away :)

Definitely understand mate. That's a big pill to swallow. If any of you overseas types do plan on attending - you're more than welcome to come and crash for more than just the weekend. Can't promise how entertaining I will be, but hey - it'll be at least amusing ;>

Wow, this might actually be affordable for me. I guess all that remains to be done is try and convince Drake that she has precisely nothing better to spend her money on around that time frame, lol

Well, if we're going to be sitting inside playing games, I can always keep the other two 27inch tv's I have and have them all setup downstairs too. That'd be amusing. But I imagine we'll have some other activities going on as well.

Well, a tentative look at a few websites shows GLA-BWI at just under £400, which is a lot but I might see if I can talk someone into making it a birthday present before I get too old to have some fun.

So, no definate yes or no, but I'd certainly love to come along if I can manage it...

I'll do my best not to be sick this year, given that I'm just a few minutes away.

As if spending my money on you isn't enough for our love?! ;o) Sure, mark us down for it. I'm long overdue for a bash anyways!

after checking around i can get there for about $160, so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

You guys are only 4 1/2 hours drive from me, most excellent!

I'll be driving up from Raleigh, NC, if anyone needs picked up along my route let me know and I'll swing by and pick you up. I'll be going US 85 to US 95.

I'm really excited.

Convincing my wife, who hates games, to come is the issue.

We have friends in Virginia beach so it might be feasible.

Thanks for the invite Decae...

We play board games, (scattegories, taboo, cranium, etc), xbox, ps2, gcube, hang out outside by the fire, throw the football around, drink, eat - etc.

The EFG (Evernight Family Gathering) is a VERY low key bash. It's all private residence stuff, so no going wild and trashing hotel rooms, etc. So, as long as you can handle a tent or sleeping in the same room as others - bring the wifey.
