The few hours he spent inside the hollow tree felt like an eternity. Everything was black and dark and every now and then something dripped on his forehead.

"Datz hudd bettah nutt bee an ooreenahtink skwirrul!"

The goblin struggled to get free but found that every movement made him even more stuck. Suddenly, he heard the soft murmur of voices and footsteps. Certainly, these were the evil Icharii coming to kill him! Snark quickly started to struggle and wiggle his legs and feet. This time, the aim was not to get free, but to get more of himself inside the tree...

*PLOP*

Four strong arms had gotten hold of his legs and manouvred him out of his confinement. Snark screamed and waved his arms about as he landed on the forest floor. Knowing he was about to meet certain doom, he grabbed a handfull of moss to smother his enemies.

"Are you the goblin that has been leaving notes in this stump? We need your help. We need to know where-"

The paler of the two figures asked him a question and as Snark opened his eyes, he heaved a sigh of relief: no wings! Before the paler one could finish his question, or get a chance to properly introduce himself, he started sniffling in the air.

Then the other unwinged one, who seemed to a bit more yellowy than his companion, lifted Snark in the air and summoned what appeared to be some sort of black hole...

"you'll have to answer us in a more... secure location"

A flash, a bang. Snark blinked, trees and bushes had been traded in for tents and, more pale beings. Then he decided that he just witnessed a magic spell and that these pale beings were actually sidhes and the whiter of his two captors was his Sidhe contact!

"Yippeeeee, Snark saafuhd!"

Gone were his feelings of dread and fear for his life, he was saved! With his legs still sore from his time spent in a tree, the elderly goblin attempted a little victory dance. In doing so he accidentally trampled over one of the guy wires of the command tents. Landing flat on his belly, he raised his head towards the sidhes and snared...

"Yoo kahll ziz 'zeekjuurr luhkazjonn'?"

[ooc: sorry, been really busy and havent had time to write longer posts. I'll move this story along :)]

Toph laughed at the little goblin. It was such a silly little thing, really. Truly, whoever made goblins had to have a sense of humor.

"Would you rather go back to the forest fire?" Toph gestured towards the woods, where black smoke hung over much of the sky.

"Now here. We need to know a few things, and we'd be very grateful if you could tell us" The elven guards glared at Snark with a look that very clearly showed that their idea of 'grateful' involved 'you get to keep your head'.

"We want to know where Nuaira Silverleaf is being held. She's the daughter of one of our generals, if that helps. Where are the important prisoners kept?"

"Not so fast Sir. You're still not entirely healed"

Tuon glared back at the elf that was helping him. He knew he was not completely better, but he had to put on appearances. His men needed to see that he was up and about and had life in him. The army had been advancing over the past few weeks cautiously back south, heading for the city of Mellamin. "Well..." Tuon thought bitterly, "The former city of Mellamin. Who knows whats left?"

His men seemed quite happy to see him, offering him words of encouragement and cheers that he was back up on his feet. The elves seemed to be in a good mood, what with the seeming defeat, however temporary, of the Icharii, and the arrival of their Sidhe allies, whose magic had raised all of their spirits.

Tuon, however, was worried. Where were the Icharii? By the size of the Icharii force, there was no reason for them to have retreated. Yes, they had suffered a severe setback with their failed flanking action, but to have fallen back this far... Tuon expected a trap.

"We want to know where Nuaira Silverleaf is being held. She's the daughter of one of our generals, if that helps. Where are the important prisoners kept?"

Snark wiggled his eyebrows and started to ponder.

"Hmm, hmm...wooman elluf, yes? Skinnee leggz, lohng, creepy bluu ize, uglee pointee nowz?"

Snark stopped as he noticed the awkward looks from the elven guards, who possesed features similar to the ones he just listed...

"Ay meenz: pretteee elluf! Ayz zeen hurr. Prizon is in Gooblin Pen. Snark kan sjoo juu."

Immediatly, some of the elven guards brought a map. The goblin looked at the map and then blew his nose.

"Zankz! Snark now sjoo ellufs werr thei vaind wooman"

Grabbing a twig, Snark made an accurate drawing of the Icharii camp on the ground. As he finished, he walked onto the drawing he made and sat down.

"Werr Snark zitz now, be joor wooman."

"But Snark... the Icharii have left. We found their camp deserted. Where would they go and take the prisoners if they were to leave here? I imagine somewhere secure..."

Which was exactly what Toph wanted to do... sneak into a secure slave pen and rescue one of the most valuable prisoners... it sounded great.
